An Iranian ship seized in Hong Kong for the last 100 days was eventually released after intensive talks and efforts by Iranian officials, Managing-Director of the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) Mohammad Hossein Dajmar announced on Saturday, FNA reported.
The ship which was seized by Hong Kong at the request of a German bank due to some sanctions-related problems was eventually released thanks to the efforts and consultations made by the Iranian ministries of commerce and foreign affairs and the IRISL, Dajmar stated.
The ship was impounded at the request of a German bank for delayed loan repayment which, officials said, has happened due to the western sanctions on Iran's banking operations.
Yet, Dajmar stressed that the loan was paid off as the ship was released.
"The measures taken for the rapid and complete loan settlement with the European bank have neutralized the international plot hatched to stop the operation of Iran's national shipping line," Dajmar reiterated.
Three other ships which were held in Singapore were also released in January, but one is still impounded in Malta.
The proper measures are underway to release the Iranian cargo ship that is still impounded in Malta.
