Iran's force has upgraded its combat power - general

A senior officer at Iran's Air Force Sunday outlined the latest achievements made by the domestic experts of the air force including producing ultra heavy bombs and smart weaponry.

Deputy Commander of the Air Force Brigadier General Mohammad Alavi told IRNA that the force has upgraded its combat power during the past decade due to critical developments occurred in the region.

He said the situation in Iraq and Afghanistan and the ongoing developments in the Middle East as well as presence of foreign forces in several regional states are indicatives of a 'seriously critical condition in the region.'

According to the officer, producing smart and strategic weapons as well as mass production of domestic cruise missiles and promoting electronic warfare power were all major achievements made by domestic experts at the air force.

Brigadier General Alavi added that the experts have succeeded to produce ultra-heavy bombs with huge tonnage and high destructive capabilities.

He hoped that the bombs would be displayed during the future war games of the air force.

"Iran's air force is fully prepared to encounter any threat," he reiterated.
