The recent bank embezzelment has caused damage to Iranian businessmen and manufacturers, ILNA quoted Chairman of the Assembly of Experts, Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani as saying on Friday.
Rafsanjani noted that Iran should guarantee stability and security to attract foreign investors to the country. "The recent negative economic upheavals hinder creating a healthy investment climate," he said.
Rafsanjani slamed the ongoing imports of products which can be produced domestically.
"Import of products, which Iran can be produced domestically, harms the local producers and the country's economy as well as brings Iranian industry to standstill," he said.
Rafsanjani called the government to transfer revenues from subsidy removals to the manufacturers.
Recently, Iran has arrested 35 suspects regarding a $2.8 billion fraud scandal, which is described as Iran's biggest case of embezzlement ever.
According to the documents, Iranian Bank Saderat, Bank Melli, Tat Bank, the Central Bank of Iran and the Economy Ministry were involved in the financial scandal.
Following the embezzlement, a number of Iran's top financial officials, including the heads of Bank Saderat, Melli and Tourism resigned.
