Managing-Director of the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines Mohammad Hossein Dajmar slammed the US and Europe for their baseless claims against his company, and reiterated that the IRISL's activities fully comply with international rules and regulations, Fars reported.
In a memo sent to FNA on Monday, Mohammad Hossein Dajmar blasted the sanctions and restrictions imposed by the US Department of Treasury and the EU against the IRISL under some false and fabricated allegations about the company's illegal activities.
He added that the company's commerce, financial and technical activities comply with well-known norms of the global sea transportation industry and the company has been respecting the requirements of the relevant international conventions.
Dajmar further said that the US and the EU "have no evidence indicating Iranian shipping lines' illegal activity", and added that the company is continuing its activities all around the world regardless of the western sanctions and restrictions.
In May 2011, the EU targeted over 30 IRISL holding companies as part of a wider sanctions campaign led by the western states aimed mostly at forcing Tehran to curb its nuclear energy drive.
Washington and its Western allies accuse Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons under the cover of a civilian nuclear program, while they have never presented any corroborative evidence to substantiate their allegations.
Iran denies the charges and insists that its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes only.
