Exports passing through the city of Jolfa in the north-east of Iran increased by 73 percent compared to last year, the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) quoted a customs official as saying.
The capital of Iran's East Azerbaijan Province, Jolfa has had more than 131,000 tons of goods passing through its customs to Iran's neighbors. Most of the goods were construction materials, plastics, agricultural products and petroleum products destined for Armenia and Azerbaijan. Exports through Jolfa totaled $127.2 million this year (Iran's solar year ends on March 20).
Imports passing through Jolfa have increased by 30 percent from last year totaling $435.5 million.
