Iran gasoline consumption registers historic record

Iran's gasoline consumption has surpassed 100 million liters per day, marking an all-time high record, Iranian Mehr News Agency reported.

The country's gasoline consumption on April 1 stood at 100.7 million liters per day, which was unprecedented.

Iran's gasoline consumption had reached 99 million liters per day in the last day of previous calendar year (March 20).

Some 1.5 billion liters of gasoline have been consumed in Iran from March 18 to April 4, making an average gasoline consumption stand at 80 million liters per day. The figure is 20 million liters more than the country's total production capacity.

According to the managing director of National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC), Mostafa Kashkouli , some 24.5 billion liters of gasoline was consumed in Iran in the previous year, which is 1.8 billion liters more than its preceding year.

The country's average gasoline consumption stood at 67 million liters in the previous year.
