BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 29. The exports of non-oil products from Khuzestan Province, located in southwestern Iran, increased by 43 percent in value terms and 32 percent in weight terms during two months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through May 2024) compared to the same period of last year (from March 21 through May 21, 2023), controller of customs in Iran's Khuzestan province Behrouz Gharabeigi said, Trend reports.
Over the course of those two months, Khuzestan province reportedly exported 4.12 million tons of non-oil items, with a total value of approximately $1.28 billion.
Gharabeigi added that products are mainly exported from the province to Iraq. Thus, during 2 months, 1.6 million tons of products worth about $409 million were exported to Iraq. Exporting products to Iraq increased by 222 percent in value and 77 percent in weight.
Furthermore, the official noted that 2.47 million tons of products worth $1.3 billion were imported to Iran's Khuzestan Province during the 2 months. The import of products increased by 16 percent in value and 20 percent in weight compared to last year.
To note, according to the statistics of the Iranian Customs Administration, in the first month of the current Iranian year, the country's exports of non-oil products amounted to 9.7 million tons worth $3.17 billion. Iran's non-oil exports decreased by 16.9 percent in value terms and 9.66 percent in weight terms in the first month compared to last year.
