Iran's car output reached 982,337 units in 2015, the International Organization of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (OICA) reported.
The figure indicated a 9.9-percent fall year on year. Iran was the world's 20th biggest car manufacturer by end of 2015, meanwhile the country stood at the to 18th place in first half of 2015.
The Islamic Republic manufactured 884,866 sedans and 97,471 commercial vehicles in 2015, according to the OICA.
Iran shared some 0.9 percent of the total car production in the world, which was 90.78 million.
During the 12-month period 68.54 million of sedans as well as 22.24 million of commercial vehicles were manufactured by carmakers in the world. The world's vehicle production has increased by 1.1 percent year on year.
China was the biggest car manufacturer in the world with 24.53 million output in the 12-month period, followed by US (12.1 million), Japan (9.3 million), Germany (6 million), South Korea (4.6 million) and India (4.1 million).
Mexico with 3.56 million of vehicle production, Spain (2.73 million), Brazil (2.43 million) and Canada (2.28 million) took the next places among the top ten car manufacturers in the world.
Finland registered the highest production growth with 53.3 percent increase y/y, followed by Italy (45.3 percent increase), Netherlands (40.4 percent increase) and Sweden (22.6 percent).
Iran manufactured 555,954 vehicles in the first half of 2015, showing 13.9 percent growth year on year.
The 2014 production statistics by the OICA indicate Iran's auto production increased by 46.7 percent and stood at 1.1 million.
