Drilling in Iran’s South Yaran oilfield complete by 82%

The drilling operations on Iran’s South Yaran oilfield which it shares with Iraq has made 82 percent progress, deputy managing director of National Iranian drilling Co. (NIDC), Mohammad Reza Takaidi said.

The NIDC has undertaken drilling of 20 wells in South Yaran oilfield, of that 13 wells have been drilled (including two delineation wells), Takaidi said, SHANA news agency reported June 22.

He further said that the NIDC has carried of some 52,128 meters of drilling operations in the field.

At the moment Fath drilling rig is operating in the southern part of the field, drilling a delineation well, he added.

According to an Oil Ministry’s document obtained by Trend news agency, the South Yaran project stood at the 56.8 percent development by March 2016.

Yaran oilfield is estimated to hold 1.1 billion barrels of in-situ crude oil. It is one of the Iranian oilfields located in the oil-rich West Karoun region in Southwestern Iran.

The Economy Council of Iran has approved the development of West Karoun oil fields as the largest joint oil fields development plan. The project targets producing 550,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
