The Iranian Ministry of Petroleum is going to bid for foreign cooperation on oil and gas exploration in a series of tenders to be launched soon.

The announcement was made by Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh as Iran is currently holding a number of tenders on field development at South Pars Phase 12, South Azadegan, South Pars gas layer, and more fields in western Iran, Mehr news agency reported November 26.

He said the explorations are planned to be carried out at areas which have not been explored so far, adding that the development of fields found there will be the privilege of the company that explores them.

“The value of bonuses to be given to the explorations will be decided before signing the contracts. This way things will be clear right from the start and hopefully the procedures will be precipitated.”

In the post-sanctions era, Iran plans to hold tenders on the development of 29 oil fields, including 21 onshore and eight offshore fields, to go to local and international companies.
