Trend:

Iran is seeking to expand gas export destinations, deputy oil minister Ahmad Assadzadeh said, Trend reports citing ILNA.

"Iran has many opportunities for gas export to neighboring countries, and exporting gas to Europe is the priority," he said. "If the Europeans are interested, Iran is open to negotiations for supplies."

He noted that regional and neighboring countries have shown positive approaches for importing gas from Iran, and the Ministry of Oil is reviewing scenarios to cooperate with these countries.

Meanwhile, Iran has held talks with Pakistan regarding gas exports to this country. It can be done by forming a multilateral contract that could be a good platform for other projects in Pakistan. Iran can barter fuel and gas products with Pakistan via the border to control smuggling.

Iran is also planning to negotiate with Iraq and extend the gas export contract, although Iraq has to be able to pay on time, said the Iranian side.
