By Fatih Karimov - Trend:

Iran is ready to implement the Additional Protocol voluntarily and temporarily until it is ratified by the country's parliament.

"During the nuclear talks, we stated that on behalf of the administration, we can promise to implement the Additional Protocol voluntarily and temporarily," Abbas Araqchi, Iran's deputy foreign minister and a senior member of the Iranian negotiating team said, Iran's Fars news agency reported on April 4.

However, the fully implementation of the Additional Protocol by Iran should be ratified by the country's parliament, he noted.

He went on to say that the sanctions which have been imposed by the US related to Iran's nuclear program, will be lifted and other sanctions will be in place.

"The US imposed sanctions on Iran after the victory of the Islamic Revolution. Accordingly, no US national has the right to do business with Iran. This is nothing to do with the nuclear issue. The illegal measure taken by the US was that it forced other countries not to do business with Iran, as well."

The Additional Protocol allows unannounced inspections outside of declared nuclear sites and it is seen as a vital tool at the IAEA's disposal to make sure that a country does not have any hidden nuclear work.

Additional Protocol was endorsed earlier by Iran in 2003, but wasn't officially ratified by the country's parliament.

Iran and world powers reached a framework agreement on April 2 on implementation of some restrictions over Iran's nuclear program for at least a decade.

Iran will have only one uranium enrichment plant, Natanz, also Iran will change the Fordo uranium enrichment plant to a nuclear research site, according to a joint announcement.

Iran will also change the design of Arak heavy water plant to make less plutonium and the International Atomic Energy Agency will have more access to Iran's nuclear facilities.
In exchange, the EU and the US will halt their sanctions on Iran after reaching a comprehensive nuclear deal (expected to be achieved by June 30).
