TEHRAN, Iran, June 8. Iranian parliament will
take action if the IAEA's Board of Governors passes a resolution
against Iran, Fereydoun Abbasi member of the Parliament Energy
Committee and the former head of Iran Atomic Energy Organization
told Trend.
He underlined that Iran's legal responses will be based on
parliament legislation, including the JCPOA-related law that
obligates the government to undertake certain measures in case the
other sides fail to implement their commitments under the Joint
Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
He pointed out that based on the law, the government can increase
the uranium enrichment to 60 percent. Abbasi said the Iranian
parliament might quit the NPT if the resolution by BoG is
passed.
According to Abbasi, the Iranian officials, MPs, expediency Council members, and even major political parties should decide on whether to exit the NPT, based on public interests.
