President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili ended his official visit to the U.S. by attending the Naval Academy in Annapolis. He was conveyed to Annapolis from the Pentagon by special helicopter, the Georgian President's Administration told Trend on Saturday.

Mr Saakashvili was given a special reception on the parade ground in front of the Academy, where anthems of Georgia and the United States were sang. The leadership of the Academy presented President of Georgia with the flight jacket of the U.S. military pilot with the word "Saakashvili".

The President of Georgia addressed the 4,400 Academy cadets. He urged them not to indulge in skepticism, as the U.S. is still a great power and embodiment of freedom for many countries.

"For us, the United States embodies the idea of freedom, and we believe that the struggle for freedom has just begun. Therefore we must reject the pessimism that is evident in recent years, and again start to fight for justice and freedom throughout the world," Mr Saakashvili said.

He stressed that the Georgian military together with the U.S. fight for these ideals of freedom and honorably perform their mission in Afghanistan, as previously in Kosovo and Iraq.

The President met with four students of the Georgian Academy. He said he is proud that the Georgians are studying in one of the elite U.S. military academy, and said that he intends to increase the number of Georgian students in the U.S. military academies. "We need a lot of modern military-trained, so that our army was one of the best" - he said.
