Georgia, Tbilisi, Feb. 12 / Trend N.Kirtskhalia /
Miners have announced an all-out strike in the city of Chiatura, in the Imereti region, western Georgia. At the moment, they have put forward three main demands: the right for days off, extending sick leave and vacation time from 28 to 45 days.
The miners stated that during the past four days they held talks with the administration of the Georgian Manganese company, but the company did not even make 'elementary concessions'.
The situation is complicated by the fact that the company is planning job cuts and structural changes. Those workers who need to be certified claim they are not prepared and demanded more time for preparation.
The strikers also require the company's management to be replaced.
It should be noted that the miners were on strike in the autumn of last year. Back then they received some compromises, but were not satisfied.
