Georgia records increase in consumer price index

The consumer price index in Georgia in October 2021 increased by 1.3 percent, compared to September 2021, while the annual inflation rate amounted to 12.8 percent, Trend reports via National Statistics Office (Geostat).

According to Geostat, in terms of the annual core inflation, the prices increased by 6.3 percent, while the annual core inflation without tobacco amounted to 6.2 percent.

The annual inflation rate was mostly influenced by price changes for the following groups:

Food and non-alcoholic beverages - (18.4 percent increase, contributing 5.73 percentage points to the overall annual inflation rate);

Transport - (19.6 percent increase, contributing 2.4 percentage points to the annual inflation rate);

Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels - (11.9 percent increase, contributing 1.75 percentage points to the annual inflation rate);

Health - (8.4 percent increase, contributing 0.65 percentage points to the overall annual inflation rate).

The monthly inflation rate for September 2021 was mainly influenced by price changes for the following groups:

Food and non-alcoholic beverages - (3 percent increase, contributing 0.96 percentage points to the overall monthly index change);

Clothing and footwear - (9.2 percent increase, contributing 0.29 percentage points to the overall monthly index change).
