Georgia reveals its major motor oil supplying countries

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 18

By Maryana Akhmedova – Trend:

Georgia’s imports of motor oils in 2021 amounted to 18,860 tons, which is a decrease of 1.2 percent, compared to 19,080 tons over 2020, Trend reports via the Union of Petroleum Products Importers of Georgia.

According to the statistics, Iran became the largest exporter of motor oils to Georgia in 2021 with exports amounting to 3,240 tons (17.2 percent of the total share). Turkey ranked second with 3,130 tons of exported product (16.6 percent of the total share). Russia is third on the list with 2,760 tons, which accounted for 14.6 percent.

While fuel imports and consumption in Georgia in 2021 have increased, imports of motor oils decreased instead, the Union said.

According to the Union of Petroleum Products Importers, the decrease in motor oils imports may be related to the increased inflation rate in Georgia, which forces car owners to delay the oil change, which leads to a reduction in oil consumption.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s aviation fuel imports in 2021 increased by 70.9 percent, compared to 56,400 tons in 2020, and totaled 96,400 tons.
