Visitor inflow from Turkey to Georgia on rise

The number of visitors from Turkey traveling to Georgia in January 2022 totaled 31,775 people, which is an increase of 119.1 percent compared to the same period of 2021 (14,500 visitors), Trend reports via Georgian National Tourism Administration.

However, the same figure decreased by 57.6 percent, compared to 75,012 visitors in January 2020, and by 50.6 percent, compared to 64,349 people over the same period of 2019 (before the COVID-19 pandemic).

Thus, Turkey ranked first among TOP-10 main countries of origin for visitors arriving in Georgia in January 2022, followed by Russia (28,381), and non-residents of Georgia (22,119).

Meanwhile, 326,494 people visited Georgia from Turkey from January through December 2021, which is a decrease of 2.7 percent, compared to 335,580 visitors in 2020. The same figure decreased by 71.8 percent in 2021, compared to 2019, when 1.1 million people visited Georgia from Turkey.

The total number of international visitors to Georgia in January 2022 amounted to 199,393 people, which is an increase of 471.2 percent, compared to 34,909 visitors over the same month of 2021. However, the current figure decreased by 68.5 percent, compared to 633,201 visitors in January 2020, and by 62.3 percent, compared to 528,678 people over the same month of 2019.
