Kazakhstan has neutralized two radical groups and six religious extremists in the city of Almaty and in the Almaty region, said the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan, RIA Novosti reports.
The terrorists were neutralized in a special operation carried out Jan. 13-24 by the National Security Committee together with the Kazakh Interior Ministry.
In total, 15 people were arrested on charges of being involved in the propaganda of terrorism, preparation for participation in terrorist activity, incitement to religious hatred and illegal possession of weapons, according to the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan.
Five grenades, a set of attributes of international terrorist organizations, literature and electronic media with religious content were seized during the searches in places of residence of the detainees, the Committee reported.
An investigation is underway.
