Gunfire was heard in Tahrir Square in downtown Cairo early Thursday and several injuries were reported, Xinhua news agency quoted Al-Jazeera as saying.
Cracks of gunfire were clearly heard in the square, where crowds of protestors still gathered to press ahead with their demand for President Hosni Mubarak's stepdown, live video footage of Al-Jazeera showed.
Unconfirmed reports of the Al-Arabiya TV channel said at least one person was killed and 10 people wounded from bullets, citing a doctor at the scene.
