BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 18. The gas storage level in the EU countries currently stands at 89.89 percent, Stefan de Keersmaecker, EU Spokesperson, said at a briefing, Trend reports.
"At the moment, the gas storages of the EU are filled to the level of 89.89 percent, and this is indeed a good result," he emphasized.
De Keersmaecker also noted that this high level of filling is largely due to an unusually warm winter in Europe.
Earlier, the European Commission supported Kyiv's proposal to allow European gas companies to use Ukrainian gas storage facilities in the western part of the country to store excess gas reserves. This decision will enable Ukraine to generate additional income.
In the spring, the European Commission set a target to fill the gas storage facilities of EU countries to a level of 90 percent by November 1.
