( dpa ) - The robbery and kidnapping trial of former gridiron great OJ Simpson was postponed Friday until September after defence attorneys requested more time to prepare their case.
Simpson and two co-defendants had been scheduled to stand trial in April on a dozen charges stemming from allegations that they threatened two collectors at gunpoint in an attempt to retrieve a collection of Simpson sports memorabilia.
District Court Judge Jackie Glass granted the delay in the trial, but rejected a defense request to dismiss some of the charges.
Simpson has proclaimed his innocence saying he was only trying to retrieve belongings that were stolen from him and that he did not have a gun.
