Syria and Israel have started indirect peace talks under Turkish auspices, a Syrian official source was quoted as saying by the official news agency SANA.
"Both parties have expressed their wish to hold talks in good faith and decided to resume a dialogue with seriousness and continuity with the aim of achieving a comprehensive peace in accordance with the Madrid peace conference," the official from the Syrian Foreign Ministry said, reported dpa.
The comment came in confirmation of an earlier disclosure from Jerusalem in which Israel had announced indirect talks under Turkish auspices.
