Baghdad endorsed Turkey's decision to open another consulate general in Erbil, northern Iraq, the Turkish Anadolu new agency reported.
The Iraqi leadership has authorized opening of the Turkish consulate under the treaties signed between the Foreign Ministers of both countries, representative of the Iraqi government Ali Dabbagh told journalists.
Dabbagh did not rule out the possibility of opening the Iraqi Consulate in Turkey in the future. The consulate's activities will cover the cities of Erbil, Suleymaniya and Dohuk, he added.
Turkey also has consulate in Basra and Mosul.
