Turkey-Azerbaijan trade turnover slides in May 2020

The trade turnover between Turkey and Azerbaijan dropped by $8.3 million in May 2020 compared to same month of 2019, having made up $184.9 million, Turkish Trade Ministry told Trend on June 30.

In the reporting month, Turkey’s export to Azerbaijan amounted to $167.4 million, and import from Azerbaijan - $17.5 million, the ministry said.

From January through May 2020, Turkey’s trade turnover with Azerbaijan increased by $17 million compared to the same period last year, having amounted to $805.9 million.

Over the reporting period, Turkey’s export to Azerbaijan amounted to $673.8 million, and import from Azerbaijan - $132 million.

The foreign trade turnover of Turkey amounted to $23.3 billion in May 2020.

In May 2020, export from Turkey decreased by 40.9 percent compared to May 2019, having amounted to $9.9 billion, while the import decreased by 27.8 percent compared to May 2019 and stood at $13.3 billion.

Turkey’s trade turnover made up $144.1 billion in the first four months of 2020. The export dropped by 19.7 percent over the year, amounting to $61.5 billion, and the import to the country decreased by 5.2 percent over the year, amounting to $82.5 billion.

In 2019, the foreign trade turnover of Turkey amounted to $374.2 billion.
