Turkey sees decline in Gaziantep Airport's 10M2020 cargo, passenger traffic

As many as 12,610 tons of cargo were transported through Turkey’s Gaziantep Airport in the first 10 months of 2020, which is a 39 percent decline compared to the same period of last year, Turkey’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure told Trend.

Some 9,650 tons of cargo were handled via domestic flights from January through October 2020, which is 35 percent less than in the same period of 2019.

“During the reporting period, 2,960 tons of cargo were transported through the Gaziantep Airport via international flights, down by 50 percent compared to the same period of 2019,” the ministry said.

Meanwhile, the airport served 1.17 million passengers, which is a 44 percent decrease year on year.

Some 1 million passengers were served on domestic flights from January through October 2020, down by 40 percent on annualized basis. Around 115,818 passengers were served on international flights, which is 64 percent less than in the same period of 2019.

In the reporting period, 12,268 flights were carried out at the Gaziantep Airport, which is 24 percent less than in the same period of last year.

Some 11,246 flights were carried out on domestic flights from January through October 2020, which is 19 percent less than in 10M2019. The number of international flights via Gaziantep Airport decreased by 56 percent, up to 1,022 compared to the same period of 2019, while the number of flights in Turkey decreased by 45.9 percent and amounted to 722,084 flights.

Meanwhile, over 70.5 million passengers were served at all Turkish airports.

During the reporting period, more than 1.9 million tons of cargo were transported through all airports of the country.
