The value of steel exports from Turkey to the US surged 5.5 times from January through May 2021 compared to the same period of 2020, exceeding up to $40.4 million, the Turkish Ministry of Trade told Trend.
“In May 2021, Turkey’s steel exports to China reached $29.5 million in value terms, having soared 22 times on annual basis,” the ministry said.
In the first 5 months of 2021, Turkey boosted the export of steel to global markets by 48.9 percent on annual basis, up to $7.2 billion.
Turkey exported steel worth $1.7 billion in May 2021, which is 114 percent more compared to May 2020.
The export of Turkey’s steel reached $14.9 billion over the past 12 months (from May 2020 through May 2021).
