By Huseyn Valiyev - Trend:

Ten new passenger cars from Switzerland's Stadler Rail Group will be delivered to Azerbaijan next month, Nadir Azmammadov, head of press service of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, told Trend June 2.

Azmammadov said that in total, it is planned to buy 30 new passenger cars from Stadler until the end of 2016.

"The cars will run on the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway from 2017," he noted adding that the completion of the BTK railway's construction is expected until the end of 2016.

Passenger transportation to Istanbul (Turkey) will also be implemented on this route, added Azmammadov.

An important difference of Stadler cars is that they are designed for rapid adaptation of their wheelset for movement on the European track.

The cars are produced in four categories: standard, comfort, business and restaurant.

Azerbaijan Railways cooperates with Stadler Rail Group since 2015. Stadler delivered three two-storeyed electric trains to Azerbaijan meant for the Baku-Sumgait route.
