The Lebanese government is doing everything possible to free the Turkish pilots, Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said, Anadolu agency reported today.

According to Davutoglu, Ankara hopes that the kidnapped pilots will be returned soon.

The Turkish Airlines pilot and co-pilot who are both Turkish citizens, were kidnapped by a group of unknown assailants while returning to their hotel in Beirut by bus. Responsibility for the kidnapping was claimed by the previously unknown group, Zuwar Al Rida.

The Lebanese authorities declared that the pilots are likely to be released soon.
Lebanese an- Nahar newspaper previously reported that pilots kidnapped in Lebanon in August 2013 were taken to an unknown destination after the Lebanese police found their whereabouts.

It was discovered that the two pilots were in a house in the Dahyeh district of Beirut. According to the newspaper, changing their whereabouts will complicate their release.

Earlier, Turkish President Abdullah Gul said Turkey hopes for Iran's aid in the return of the Turkish pilots kidnapped in Lebanon.
