Iran has resumed gas supply to neighboring Turkey in today after an eight-day break, Mehr News Agency reported on Friday.
On Sept. 22, Iran suspended gas export to Turkey for the third time due to BOTAŞ Petroleum Pipeline Corporation's request.
The Turkish company requested to halt the flow of Iranian gas to inspect the pipeline and conduct necessary repair work.
Three explosions in the Iranian-Turkish gas pipeline temporarily disrupted gas supplies to Iran's western neighbor in recent months.
Iran exports 30 million cubic meters per day to Turkey.
Tehran and Ankara signed a contract in 1996 for annual export of 10 billion cubic meters of gas from Iran for 25 years.
Iran exported 6.8 billion cubic meters of gas to Turkey in the last Iranian calendar year (ended on March 20, 2011). The exports are forecasted to increase up to 10 billion cubic meters.
The construction of the third and fourth parts of Iran's sixth general pipeline will enable to transfer 90 million cubic meters of gas per day to Turkey and other countries.
