Turkey and Norway contribute to Europe's security by preserving democracy, supremacy of law, human rights and free market and did not allow any moves that threaten common values, said Turkish President Abdullah Gul. Anadolu Agency reported.

Gul hosted a dinner in honor of King Harald V of Norway on Tuesday in the Turkish capital, Ankara.

Gul said Norwegian king's visit to Turkey was a turning point in terms of bilateral relations.

"Both Turkey and Norway work together to assure international peace and security," Gul said. "We consider Norway as one of the most important partners in the field of peace and mediation and we believe that we should also cooperate in foreign aid."

Reminding that there is a population of about 20,000 Turkish people in Norway, Gul said "Turkish people get integrated in the Norwegian society and they improve our relations with Norway and make us proud of them with their success."

More than 400,000 Norwegian people visited Turkey in 2012.

King Harald V of Norway said that he appreciated discussion in Turkey to find solutions to the problems in the country.

"Turkey's efforts to help the Syrian people evoke admiration," he said.
