A 6.3-magnitude earthquake shook Indonesia's Papua province on Saturday, but no tsunami warning was issued, reported dpa.

The quake struck at 19:51 pm (1051 GMT). The epicentre was located 56 kilometres north-west of Nabire in west Papua, at a depth of 55 kilometres, according to the Meteorology, Geophysics and Climatology Agency.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

Indonesia sits on the Pacific "ring of fire" and is frequently struck by powerful earthquakes.
