Turkey's warplanes resumed airstrikes on the positions of the Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) in northern Iraq, said General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces in a statement Feb. 20.
The airstrikes were inflicted on the PKK positions near the Zap, Gare, Metina, Avshin and Kandil settlements located in the north of Iraq.
PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by the UN and the European Union.
The conflict between Turkey and the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has continued for over 25 years and has claimed more than 40,000 lives.
