Caspian littoral countries' Chambers of accounts will start joint inspections at the departments dealing with ecological issues in the Caspian Sea from 2012, chairman of the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation Sergei Stepashin told journalists in Baku on Wednesday.
"There is a decision to be made regarding the involvement of the Iranian Chamber of Accounts in the inspections and we are preparing an action plan and inspections will begin in 2012," Mr. Stepashin said.
He said issues related to fishing are under consideration as well.
Mr. Stepashin, who is attending an event to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Azerbaijani Chamber of Accounts said: "Unfortunately, the Caspian Sea suffers from poaching to the extent it faces serious problems with the destruction of the sturgeon. So we agreed to work together."
