The hospital that operated on a prominent Turkish journalist Mehmet Ali Birand has denied information on his death, Sabah reported on Thursday.
The statement released by the hospital says that the state of the journalist is extremely critical and treatment is being carried out in intensive care unit.
Earlier, Turkish media reported that Mehmet Ali Birand has died on Thursday at the age of 72 at the hospital where he underwent surgery, the Sabah newspaper reported. The cause of death was due to deterioration in his state of health state during a gallbladder operation.
Birand has worked as a journalist in many leading newspapers in Turkey for many years. He wrote political articles and was also a leading news presenter on Kanal D TV channel. In addition, Birand has written many political and social books.
