All Conditions Created to Hold Free and Fair Presidential Elections in Azerbaijan: CIS Mission
Azerbaijan, Baku, 6 October /corr. Trend R.Novruzov / According to the initial assessment of the CIS observation mission, all conditions have been created for holding free and fair presidential elections in Azerbaijan.
їThe agitation campaign of the presidential candidates is going on in good conditions and equal conditions have been created for all candidates to hold agitation campaign,ї Yevgeni Sloboda, Head of the CIS observation mission office, briefed the media in Baku on 6 October.
The Presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held on 15 October. A total of seven candidates will take part in the elections including Ilham Aliyev, chairman of Ruling New Azerbaijan Party, Igbal Agazade, chairman of opposition Umid (Hope) Party, Fazil Gazanfaroglu, chairman of Great Establishment Party, Gudrat Hasanguliyev, chairman of Unified Popular Front Party, Hafiz Hajiyev, chairman of Muasir Musavat Party, Fuad Aliyev, chairman of Liberal Democrat Party and independent candidate Gulamhuseyn Alibayli.
The CIS observation mission consists of 389 observers, with 23 on a long-term base.
According to Sloboda,
Presidential candidates themselves also declared the fact that all conditions
were created for them.
The CIS observation mission has not revealed serious irregularities in the polling stations, Sloboda said. їThe Commission for Complaints at the Central Election Commission considers all complaints, and in the court, we were convinced that all complaints will be considered soon,ї he said.
During the visit of the Head of the CIS observation mission, Sergey Lebedev, to Azerbaijan, he will visit election districts in the capital and regions. їDuring the election day, Lebedev will meet with the Head of the OSCE observation mission, Boris Firles, and they will exchanged information,ї Sloboda.
According to him, on 9-10 October the mission will hold meetings with the Prosecutor General and Interior Minister of Azerbaijan.
