Footballer who Scored First Goal in Azerbaijan’s Cup Turns out to be Drug Addict

Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 November/ Trend , corr K. Zarbaliyeva/ Mehman Alishanov,  who scored first goal in Azerbaijan's Football Cup, has been arrested on charges of drug trafficking.

Alishanov was detained by the police officers of Police Office of Khatai district of Baku on 3 November as a suspect. The examination on his clothes revealed over 83gr of heroin and on the clothes of his friend Nabi Bayramov - 84gr of heroin.

According to official reports, they were planning to sell the drugs. A suit has been filed over the fact on charges of illegally obtaining, storing, preparing and selling drugs (Article 234.4.1).

Alishanov and Bayramov are in remand prison 3 in Shuvalan settlement of Baku.

The medical examination revealed that the former footballer is a drug addict.

Alishanov was first to score a goal in Azerbaijan's Football Cup in 1992. He has played for Kur-Nur and Energetik teams of Mingachevir region of Azerbaijan for a long time.

Alishanov, 41, ended his footballer career in May 2008.
