Belgium, Brussels, 9 Dec / corr. Trend A.Ismaylova / The Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia refer to the opinion "to leave entire poor heritage in the past", Elmar Mammadyarov, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, said on 9 Dec after bilateral and multilateral talks between the European Union and the countries of South Caucasus.

"We refer to the opinion with my Armenian counterpart that it needs to leave entire poor heritage in the past, in history," said Mammadyarov.

According to the Minister, at the meeting with the Armenian side was stated that the conflict delays development of co-operation with the European Union, and the sides will increase their efforts according to the Moscow declaration, which envisages intensifying activities of the sides for achievement of peace in the region.

On 2 Dec the meeting of the leaders of Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia took place in Moscow, as a result of which Moscow declaration was signed. The Presidents confirmed adherence to the peaceful solution within the Minsk Group on the basis of Madrid proposals, the declaration says.

The conflict between the two countries of South Caucasus appeared in 1988 due to territorial claims by Armenia against Azerbaijan. Armenia occupied 20% of the Azerbaijani land including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding Districts. Since 1992, these territories have been under the occupation of the Armenian Forces. In 1994, Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement at which time the active hostilities ended. The Co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group ( Russia, France and USA) are holding peaceful negotiations.
