Ukraine, Kiev, Jan. 19 / Trend , Z.Novosvitski /

The number of Ukrainians hoping to return to their country decreased after the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Roughly 264 Ukrainians requested the Ukrainian Embassy in Israel help them return to Ukraine, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Vasili Kirilich said at a briefing.

The embassy said 50 people, including 20 women and children, asked for assistance early Monday.

According to Kirilich, Ukrainian citizens will cross the Egyptian-Israeli border by vehicle and return to Ukraine from Cairo.

Israel announced an unilateral ceasefire in Gaza on Saturday evening after a three-week operation against Hamas. A total of 1,300 Palestinians and 13 Israelis died in the conflict.

On Sunday, Hamas and other Palestinian organizations announced the ceasefire.

Over 100 Ukrainian citizens have been evacuated from the conflict zone.
