Iranian citizens to go to Kurdistan region of Iraq without visa

Iran, Tehran, Jan. 21/ Trend A. Namdari/ Iran's citizens will be able to go to Kurdistan region of Iraq without visa via frontier checkpoint Temuchin region of Western Azerbaijan of Iran.

"In accordance with the document signed between leaderships of the region of Western Azerbaijan of Iran and Kurdistan region of Iraq in November 2008, Iran's citizens, drivers of the international cargo transportation companies will be able to go to Kurdistan region of Iraq via frontier checkpoint Temuchin without visa," Humaun Kerimi, transport advisor of Iran's frontier checkpoint, said on Jan. 21.

Iran's citizens will be able to stay in Kurdistan region of Iraq for 10 days.

Checkpoint Temuchin is situated 200 km from Arbil town, Kurdistan region of Iraq. Over the last 9 months, 650 buses and trucks went from Western Azerbaijan to Kurdistan region of Iraq.

"Removal of visa regime at frontier checkpoint Temuchin will give an impetus to extend visits and trade relations between the two countries," Kerimi said.
