Chairman of Government of Adjara Levan Varshalomidze today made an official visit to Switzerland to attend the meeting of the Bureau of Assembly of European Regions on May 14-15. The Bureau represents the management body of the Assembly, where members of the Bureau are elected for two year period.
Varshalomidze was elected a member of the Bureau at the meeting of the Assembly of European Regions in the Finnish city of Tampere in November 2008. Bureau meets twice a year. This was the first meeting with participation of Chairman of the Government of Adjara.
The meeting will review Assembly's activity for the period of 2008. Participants of the meeting will deliver reports on current and planned drafts, including the economy, agriculture, climate changes, education, tourism and youths.
During the visit to Switzerland, Varshalomidze will meet with President of the Assembly Michel Sabba and Secretary General Claus Clip, as well as with heads of different regions. The issue on participation of Adjara in different regional drafts and its further cooperation will be discussed at the meeting.
