The Georgian Defense Ministry discussed military cooperation with the United States today.

Security issues were discussed at a meeting between Defense Minister Bacho Akhalaia and U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Ukraine, Russia and Eurasia Celeste Wallander.

The officials discussed Georgian military reforms under the Charter of Strategic Cooperation signed by Georgia and the United States, while also touching upon Georgia's participation in international operations and Georgian military training.

Akhalaya and Wallander addressed the need for Georgia to establish a unified professional educational system for military personnel, as well as future military cooperation plans.

The U.S. official also met with Georgian Deputy Prime Minister Giorgi Baramidze, National Security Council head Eka Tkeshelashvili and State Minister for Reintegration Temur Yakobashvili.
