The Turkmen governmental delegation will take part in the upcoming the 65th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. This was announced during the next meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Turkmen Embassy in Azerbaijan reported.

President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov noted that "Turkmenistan is ready to continue to send its peacekeeping capacity to achieve certain global Millennium Development Goals set by the Community of Nations - peace, security and sustainable development, acting in complex of essential sustainable development of all countries on the planet".

Berdimuhammedov named the neutral status of Turkmenistan recognized by the international community and its policy of openness, peace and equal cooperation, which provides a solid platform for future joint projects implemented in the general interest, as a key aspect in the implementation of the goals.

Berdimuhammedov stressed the firm intention of Turkmenistan to continue to take an active part in international efforts to establish the most favorable conditions for sustainable peaceful development in neighboring Afghanistan.

In this regard, Berdimuhammedov again emphasized the importance of speedy implementation of the new large-scale project of regional and international significance - the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline, which would solve many of the pressing issues of socio-economic sphere, while at the same time, will help to strengthen economic ties, peace and stability in the region.

Turkmenistan has become a recognized center for peace, seeking to use its status as permanent and positive neutrality, as well as the existing experience of political and diplomatic peacemaking in the interest of the entire world community, a positive influence on the course and nature of the processes in Central Asia and Caspian Sea region.

United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy in Central Asia was established in Ashgabat in December 2007 upon Berdimuhammedov's proposal. Just a year later - December 19, 2008 - the 63rd Session of UN General Assembly adopted a resolution initiated by the Turkmen leader on the security of energy transit.

In September 2009, Berdimuhammedov voiced an initiative to establish an expert group to advise on the development of a future international legal instrument for the transit of energy resources and hold international conference on disarmament in Ashgabat, as well as a number of suggestions concerning water issues in Central Asia and the settlement of the situation in Afghanistan.

Berdimuhammedov's foreign policy initiatives always find understanding and full support from the international community.

A striking evidence of this is genuine interest and active participation of representatives of the world and major international organizations in the international events held in Turkmenistan.

These are the Energy Transit Security International Conference held in April 2009 and international conference of countries of the Central Asia and Caspian Basin for Disarmament Affairs held in June 2010.

The most important support by the global community to Berdimuhammedov's initiatives, can be considered the holding of a special meeting at UN headquarters in August 2010, which resulted in the recognition of the usefulness of creating an expert group under the auspices of the Organization with a mandate to prepare an international legal mechanism aimed at ensuring the effective functioning of the international system of energy supply.
