The Azerbaijani opposition may create a new electoral bloc later this week, Azerbaijani Citizens and Development Party (ACDP) Chairman Ali Aliyev told Trend.

"Consultations with organizations are underway," he said. "The consultations are related to the requirements of the Electoral Code, organizational issues and the definition of constituencies."

The Azadlig Bloc was created in 2005. The bloc brings together three opposition parties - the Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), Liberal Party of Azerbaijan (LPA) and the ACDP. The PFPA announced the formation of a new bloc with the Musavat party July 13. Following the announcement, the LPA and ACDP said they would work toward creating an alternative electoral bloc.

The parliamentary elections will be held Nov. 7. Previous elections were held in November 2005. The elections are held by the majority system in 125 constituencies.
