Ashgabat and Doha agree to cooperate in combating transnational organized crime

Turkmenistan’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held official talks with the Qatari Emir Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al-Thani in Qatar’s capital Doha on Monday during his first-ever visit to the Gulf Arab state, Turkmen press reported.

Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held official talks with the Qatari Emir Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad Al-Thani in Qatar's capital Doha on Monday during his first-ever visit to the Gulf Arab state, Turkmen press reported.
The parties recognized the need to further strengthen cooperation in combating terrorism, illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, transnational organized crime and other threats and challenges of modernity.
The Heads of State exchanged views on a wide range of issues of Turkmen-Qatari relations and topical international and regional issues of mutual interest.

Besides, the sides paid special attention to discussing opportunities for cooperation in oil and gas, oil and gas processing industries, trade, construction industry, textile industry, as well as other areas of mutual interest.

The Heads of State reaffirmed their interest in deepening ties in education, science, culture, arts, tourism, sports and more active contacts in these fields.
Berdimuhamedov expressed sincere gratitude to the Emir of Qatar for the warm reception and invited him to make an official visit to Turkmenistan at any time.
The invitation was accepted with gratitude.
