The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has today met with the South Korean Prime Minister Kim Hwang-sik during a visit to Korea.
During the meeting the sides discussed the current state of relations between the countries, covering economic, political, cultural and other spheres, as well as stressed the importance of increasing efforts to further enhance these ties, the Foreign Ministry said.
Touching upon the business activity of the Korean entrepreneurs in Azerbaijan, Mammadyarov stressed the importance of using experience achieved by the Korean side in various fields of economy, and thanked his interlocutor for the fact that the Republic of Korea has defined Azerbaijan as its priority partner for 2011-2013.
Mammadyarov informed in detail Kim Hwang-sik about the negotiation process for the peaceful resolution of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and Azerbaijan's position on this matter.
Today Mammadyarov has also met with the leaders of the Azerbaijani-Korean Interparliamentary Friendship Group So Byong-Su and the Chairman of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Unification Committee of the Korean Parliament Nam Nyung Pil.
The sides stressed the importance of a broad exchange of experiences and the continuation of the meetings of working groups on the Azerbaijani-Korean interparliamentary relations, as well as stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy and its increasing role in the modern world.
During the visit, Mammadyarov gave an interview to the Korean news agency "Yonhap", the "Korean herald" newspaper and the "Arirang" television channel, during which he touched upon the issues on the Azerbaijani-Korean relations, cooperation within international organizations, regional processes, as well as the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno- Karabakh conflict.
