Azerbaijan, Baku, July 6 / Trend S. Agayeva /
Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan have recently paved a new way for bilateral relations, Turkmen Ambassador to Azerbaijan Toyli Komekov said.
"Our countries develop in all spheres of cooperation. The mutual state high level visits promote this. Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov paid an official visit to Azerbaijan in May 2008. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev also paid an official visit to Turkmenistan in November 2008. The meetings were important steps toward enhancing and developing inter-state relations, relations of friendship, brotherhood and fruitful cooperation. Their history
experiences a new era now," Komekov told Trend.
The ambassador considers the Azerbaijani Culture Days in Turkmenistan held in early November 2009, as well as the Turkmen Culture Days in Azerbaijan held in November last year, as an example of good neighborly relations.
He said scientific and cultural events held this year may testify to the development of mutual relations between the two countries.
This is confirmed by political and cultural events held in honor of the four-year anniversary of the inauguration of the Turkmen President for high public post and the State Flag Day, celebrated on Feb. 14 with the support of the government of the Azerbaijani Republic and the
participation of heads of diplomatic missions, as well as various political and scientific figures of the country, he said.
The ambassador considers the intergovernmental Turkmen-Azerbaijani commission for economic cooperation and good results of the second meeting of the intergovernmental commission held in Baku in November 2010 as an important mechanism for the intensification of partnership.
