Members of the government delegation for talks with Syria's opposition have not yet been approved, the Deputy Prime Minister of Syria Qadri Jamil said on Thursday, Rusiya Al Yaum (RT Arabic) reported.

Referring to the tense situation in the Golan Heights, Jamil said the escalation of tensions there is associated with Israel's aggressive stance against prospects for a peaceful settlement of the Syrian crisis.

"Israel is interested in the continuing bloodshed and collapse of Syria. However, the Syrian people will never allow it," Jamil said.

As for the position of the Arab countries on the Syrian crisis, Jamil said these countries follow the policy of the major Western players.

"Any change in the U.S. position entails a change in the positions of the Arab countries. We have seen it recently. The U.S. position has partly shifted towards a peaceful settlement. Immediately, those Arab countries that have been uniquely tuned to break all relations with the Syrian authorities, have recently adjusted their positions," he said.

The conflict between the government and the opposition has been on-going in Syria since March 2011. According to UN estimates, the death toll in the country during this period has reached 82,000.
