“The candidates from political blocs freely use state air time, but independent candidates are deprived of the right,” MP Alimammad Nuriyev, said to a meeting of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) on Tuesday, Trend reports. He put the issue on the agenda of the meeting
and brought to the forefront violations in issuing of equal rights to candidates.
According to Nuriyev, article 149 of Constitution says that legal acts are due to base on law and fairness, but article 80 of the Elections Code contradicts this.
The MP also expressed protest in regard to empty promises of candidates in the election campaign and tampering with electors. “Different candidates promise to allow electors to use gas and electricity freely. The state must prevent this,” he added.
Bahar Muradova, a member of New Azerbaijan party, supported her colleague and stressed that it was inadmissible. “The people making such promises were engaged in crazy attempts in past. They even promise to increase wages,” she underlined.
