The European Union (EU) is interested in the discussion of an action plan designed by Azerbaijan under the New Neighborhood Policy, the EUs special representative on South Caucasus, Heikki Talvitie, said in a meeting with Elmar Mammadyarov, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister. Talvitie stressed the EUs support to the policy on Azerbaijans integration to the European institutes and development of relationships in this sphere.
The meeting centered on an exchange of opinions on the international mediation in the talks on resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Mammadyarov informed on the meeting held in London on 17-18 January with the Armenian FM Vardan Oskanian, where he stated Azerbaijans official position on the conflict resolution. He noted the importance for the resolution of the problems on the base of the norms and principles of the international law in line with the Constitution of Azerbaijan.
Talvitie underlined that the EU is ready to take a direct part in the resolution of the conflict and post-resolution rehabilitation process.
